Rainbow Community Cares stands in solidarity with LGBT Center at Montclair State University and condemns hate violence messaging.
Hello my name is Jenna Zirbel and I’m writing you today on behalf of the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs. NCAVP works to prevent, respond to and end all forms of violence against and within lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and HIV-affected (LGBTQH) communities. NCAVP is a national coalition of local member programs, affiliate organizations and individuals who create systemic and social change. We strive to increase power, safety and resources through data analysis, policy advocacy, education and technical assistance. NCAVP is a program of the New York City Anti-Violence Project
My organization Rainbow Community Cares is a member of the Coalition. We are tracking the report of anti-gay threats in a note and on the walls of your student center and wanted to reach out to offer our support during this time. We will most likely include this incident in a monthly statement of the violence we have tracked nationally. We always want to lift up the work that is happening locally, so any information about a local community response would be greatly appreciated. We also always want to support the messaging of local communities. What are folks saying in response to these incidences? Please also let us know if there’s anything we can do to support your efforts. NCAVP can help with response strategies, messaging content and considerations, working with various response systems and other anti-violence related endeavors.
In solidarity,
Jenna
