Celebrate in untraditional ways with ceremonies crafted to meet your individual expression of life passages and transitions.

Rainbow Community Cares is celebrating two years of support and advocacy with Transgender, and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer, Questioning and Allies (LGBTQA). RCCares continues to work, ever striving to be present in the moments at the places where caring can meet the needs of the community. It is to us church in the best sense of the word and we love it. An excellent example of RCCares’ support and service can be seen in the monthly Affirming Faith Forums. Last Friday at the LGBT Center of Raleigh J organized and co facilitated the Affirming Faith Forum “Awakening Change” that drew 11 people into participation - representing 3 generations, 1/3 of the folks were from communities of color, participants were transgender, same gender loving, bisexual, heterosexual, gender non conforming, female identified, male identified, first timer, visitor, volunteer, organizer, agnostic, atheist, UU, UCC,  . . . and we even had a few Christians. The information shared was as peer experts living in community exploring beyond church dogmas and negative religious messages to how one actually lives a meaningful life. It was the willingness to be vulnerable that made the encounter so rich, encouraged trust to grow stronger and enhanced the ability to risk exposing our formative thinking on the way to examining our true selves.

Forum participants have developed relationships over time that are trusting, and yet still open to drawing new participants into the dialogue. Participants come and go; some have attended since the monthly forums inception almost two years ago.  Some are attracted to other faith venues, other interests have become more compelling, or the forums do not adequately address their faith expressions. The forum is open, welcoming of diversity and affirming of the health and well being of the participants. Topics flow from a continuous thread of issues and concerns expressed by the participants in response to life in community and in support of each other. The monthly Affirming Faith Forum is one of the programs that RCCares organizes to co create safe spaces for fuller self expression leading to better health and well being for the LGBTQA community, and reconciliation with the community at large. For all that you do to join our work with yours over the past two years we say “Thank you!”
